New Options for Specialized

Roval Star Wheelset

Specialized has introduced a revamped line of Roval wheels which include some of the lightest, most aerodynamic wheels on the market. By positioning the spokes and new "star flanges" closer to the center-line of the hub, the new design has approximately 20% less drag than an HED tri-spoke wheel. Rims are available in aluminum and carbon variants. The new wheelset with aluminum "star flanges" and rims weighs only 1750 grams for the pair of clincher wheels and retail for $900. The carbon rim wheelset retails for $2350.

SRAM Rival and Force Component Groups

Shimano and Campy have a new competitor in SRAM's new Rival and Force road components. The new component groups include shifters, derailleurs, cranks, brakes, cassettes and chains. The top-of-the-line Force group and the price-point Rival both share the same design on all components, with the Force group getting extra touches like carbon fiber lever blades , a magnesium lever body, and titanium cogs and bolts. The innovative "DoubleTap" single-lever shifter offers an elegant shifting option for roadies, allowing both up and down shifts to be executed by a single inward pivoting shift lever. Double Tap shifting works with a single lever located directly behind that of the brakes. Push this lever in towards the frame once for a downshift and then in a little further for a shift up in the cogset.
